Poland has postponed its presidential election amid debate over how to conduct voting safely meanwhile in India, a lethal gas leak may have resulted from a rush to reopen a chemical plant.

The virus, which causes the respiratory infection Covid-19, was first detected in the city of Wuhan, China, in late 2019.

It is spreading rapidly in many countries and the number of deaths is still climbing.

However, variations in testing mean that the number of cases may be understated for some countries.
